Guided tours

The Wittelsbach rulers

Walk with an official City of Munich guide on the tracks of the 700-year reign of the Wittelsbach dynasty.

The Wittelsbach family governed Bavaria for 738 years which is longer than almost any other ruling dynasty in Europe. Their reign has put its mark on the land and its people for many centuries.

During a colorful walk through the old town you will learn interesting facts about emperors, dukes, electors and kings; you will follow the track of the salt road and the White Gold and arrive at the Residenz Palace where the Wittelsbach dynasty lived and ruled for six centuries.

Via the Old Court you will come to the greatest hub of commerce in the Middle Ages – Marienplatz (St. Mary Square).
