Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Christmas traditions, presented to you on a tour through Munich's atmospherically decorated old town.
Do you know the origin of the Christmas tree? Or have you ever wondered why Advent wreaths and nativity scenes can be found in so many living rooms?
On our Old Town tour focusing on Christmas customs, you will learn, among other things, what role St. Nicholas and the Fatschenkindl play in Munich's Christmas season, or what the blooming Barbara branches are all about. Many churches in the city are festively decorated during the Christmas season and display their impressive nativity scenes, immersing visitors in the contemplative atmosphere of Advent. You will learn the secrets behind old traditions such as the Krampuslauf (Krampus run) or the Rauhnächte (rough nights) and the significance of the Advent calendar.
The Christmas themes are embedded in a tour of the old town with history and stories that define Munich.
