King Ludwig I

Like no other ruler, Ludwig I turned Munich into a metropolis of art and culture. Get to know the "Greek" Munich at this city tour.

“I want to transform Munich into a town that will do Germany honor, so that people will not know Germany unless they have seen Munich,” he announced.

With the support of the architects Leo von Klenze and Friedrich von Gärtner he realized his vision.

From the Nationaltheater (Opera house) you will pass the Residenz Palace and reach Ludwigstrasse. Then the elegant Brienner Strasse will take you to Karolinenplatz. The tour ends in a highlight of urban architecture, the classicistic Königsplatz.
