Those in the mood to celebrate are drawn to Tollwood on Theresienwiese on New Year's Eve. The winter festival is a tried-and-tested party venue for the turn of the year! If you want to see out 2025 in style, celebrate here with live music and DJs at the legendary New Year's Eve party.
As every year, Muffatwerk is hosting a big New Year's Eve party in the café, Ampere and Muffathalle. Each area will feature a different DJ – from hip hop to electro and funk, there's something for everyone. At Milla Club, on the other hand, you can dance into the new year to indie pop! And at Backstage, too, there will be celebrations in all areas on New Year's Eve, with long drinks and shots available at discounted prices in recent years.
Other Munich clubs also invite guests to celebrate New Year's Eve. Last year, there was techno and house music at the Rote Sonne and hip-hop and the latest hits at Sweet – there was something for everyone around Maximiliansplatz. The 089 Bar also welcomed in the New Year.
Exclusive parties were organised at P1 and the Pacha Club. The Filmcasino hosted both a glamorous party and a gala dinner with a five-course menu and champagne reception. Other clubs where you could toast the New Year last New Year's Eve were the Milchbar and the Neuraum.

The Seehaus in the English Garden offers exclusive menus on New Year's Eve, providing the opportunity to relax and enjoy culinary delights as you ring in the new year 2026. In the Bavarian Stüberl, guests can enjoy a delicious New Year's Eve fondue in a cosy mountain hut atmosphere. Meanwhile, a New Year's Eve gala menu will be served in the restaurant and pavilion – you can choose between the small or large version. There is also a vegan menu available!
At the Augustiner-Keller, guests can celebrate with live music and a three-course meal in the ballroom, with a DJ and à la carte dinner in the storage cellar, or in the cosy Bürgerstube with a multi-course meal and sparkling wine.
The Andaz Hotel in Schwabing offers two New Year's Eve menus on different floors: at the modern meat restaurant The Lonely Broccoli on the ground floor and at the M'Uniqo Rooftop Bar on the top floor with views over the city. This bar on the 13th floor also offers a fantastic view of the city at midnight!
Gasthaus Waltz also presents a culinary New Year's Eve with an eight-course gourmet menu and plenty of fine wine.
The GOP Varieté Theatre is also offering a New Year's Eve gala again: guests will enjoy a five-course meal (plus a surprise course!), alternating with the current show ‘HULLIS’, featuring both culinary and variety highlights. After midnight, there will be a midnight buffet, a live band and a DJ who will entertain guests with music until around 3 a.m.
The Mural Group is also hosting various culinary events on New Year's Eve at the Bar Mural and the Mural Restaurant.
In the Australian Fitzroy guests can enjoy a six-course menu, while the Michelin-starred Mountain Hub Gourmet restaurant at Munich Airport offers five courses with champagne and wine pairings.
Many other restaurants in Munich are also hosting special dinners or multi-course meals on New Year's Eve, including Restaurant Huber in Bogenhausen, Frau im Mond at the Deutsches Museum, Löwenbräukeller on Stiglmaierplatz and the restaurants at the Bayerischer Hof, including the two-Michelin-starred Atelier, the Garden Restaurant and the Polynesian restaurant Trader Vic's.
The Cuvilliés Theatre in the Residenz is hosting three New Year's Eve matinees on 31 December 2025: performances will take place in the morning, afternoon and evening. There will also be a special New Year's Eve concert in the neighbouring Hofkapelle (Court Chapel) of the Residenz. In the afternoon, the Munich Radio Orchestra will play excerpts from operas and operettas by Mozart and others in the Herkulessaal. In the Max Joseph Hall in the Residenz, the ‘Ensemble Clemente’ will perform several Baroque masterpieces in the afternoon, followed by the Munich String Quartet in the evening. In addition, a festive New Year's Eve concert will take place in the Allerheiligen-Hofkirche (All Saints' Court Church) of the Residenz at 5 p.m.
There will also be two concerts on New Year's Eve at the Isarphilharmonie in the Gasteig HP8's alternative venue: the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra will play Beethoven from 5 p.m., and the Munich Symphony Orchestra's New Year's Eve concert will begin at 8 p.m. In the afternoon, the Opera Brass, the brass ensemble of the Bavarian State Orchestra for almost 30 years, will give a concert in the Great Hall of the University of Music and Performing Arts. And in the Heilig-Geist-Kirche at the Viktualienmarkt, a New Year's Eve concert with trumpet and organ will be played starting at 8 p.m.
At the Lustspielhaus, the old year ends and the new year begins with cabaret artist Django Asül, who presents a satirical review of the year. The Galli Theater in the Amalienpassage is staging the play ‘Der Beziehungscoach’ (The Relationship Coach) on New Year's Eve. The small theatre Viel Lärm um Nichts in the Pasinger Fabrik invites you to its own production ‘Freuhoit in Kräääh-Winkel’ at the turn of the year. The Prinzregententheater presents magic as part of ‘Magic! Zauber der Illusion’ (Magic! The Magic of Illusion). And at the Deutsches Theater, you can watch ‘The Bodyguard’ on New Year's Eve! The Volkstheater is staging the new play ‘Glaube Liebe Roboter’ (Believe Love Robots) and
The Munich Marionette Theatre is staging two performances on New Year's Eve: in the afternoon for the little ones, ‘Teddys großes Weihnachtsabenteuer’ (Teddy's Big Christmas Adventure), and in the evening for teenagers and adults, ‘Die Zauberflöte’ (The Magic Flute). The Munich Theatre for Children is also showing a play on New Year's Eve; from 8 p.m. you can see the guest production ‘Die ewige Zweitbesetzung’ (The Eternal Understudy). And Circus Krone is also open on New Year's Eve, showing its current winter programme!
At the turn of the year 2025/2026, there will once again be a ban on fireworks and firecrackers in Munich's city centre. The ban applies from Stachus to Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt. Fireworks are also not permitted in the English Garden for fire safety and nature conservation reasons. This regulation also applies to Nymphenburg Palace Park and the Residenz courtyards!
This year, for the first time, the New Year's Eve Mile in Ludwigstraße from the Siegestor will ensure a great atmosphere: from 7 p.m. onwards, there will be light shows, art installations and live music. Street food trucks will provide culinary delights. To enter, you must book a ticket in advance!
Those who want to watch the organised fireworks display from the Tollwood Winter Festival can meet around the Theresienwiese. The Friedensengel offered a wonderful view over Munich. This meeting place has now achieved cult status and has become a New Year's Eve tradition. You can also toast with a glass of sparkling wine on the numerous bridges over the Isar. There was also plenty of space on the Hackerbrücke to marvel at the fireworks over the city, but you are not allowed to set off fireworks here yourself.
If you want to do so, you have to leave the Mittlerer Ring and drive to the Olympiaberg, for example.
The RoadRunners Club e.V. is once again inviting participants to its New Year's Eve run this year: the popular running event will take place in Munich for the 40th time this year. The routes are circular courses through the Olympic Park, starting and finishing at the small Olympic Hall in 2025.
The Munich New Year's Run on 1 January, on the other hand, takes place through the English Garden. It is not yet known whether the event will also take place in 2025.
