Maximilianstrasse

The city's noble address

The Maximilianstrasse is Munich's most expensive avenue: almost all international luxury labels of the fashion and jewellery industry are represented here.

Fashion boutiques such as Armani, Louis Vuitton and Gucci, jewelers such as Bulgari or prestigious art galleries – whoever has a place in the world of glitter and glamour maintains a dependance on Maximilianstrasse.

But even without the right purse you can stroll around, enjoy the flair of the street and marvel at the precious pieces in the beautifully decorated shop windows.

The architecturally impressive ambience of Munich's luxury mile is also worth a visit. Along with Brienner Strasse, Ludwigstrasse and Prinzregentenstrasse, Maximilianstrasse is one of Munich's four major boulevards in terms of urban development.

In the 19th century, King Maximilian II had the street built by his architect Georg Friedrich Bürklein in the unique Maximilian style, which combines elements of various stylistic epochs such as Neo-Gothic and Renaissance. The five-star Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten on Maximilianstrasse also dates back to this time: it was built here in 1858 at the request of Maximilian II.
