St. Patrick's Day was first organised in Munich in 1996 by some Irish men and women and friends of the Irish community. Instead of the planned 200, 3000 guests attended the parade. Since then, the Irish day of remembrance has been celebrated in Munich every year: Especially around Odeonsplatz, revellers dressed in green gather for parades and concerts. The parade will take place for the 31th time in Munich on March 13 and 14, 2027!
On Saturday, you can toast to the Irish-Bavarian friendship at the pre-party: Numerous street food stalls and a stage will be set up in front of the Feldherrnhalle on Odeonsplatz. There will be music and dancing from a lot of bands.
Some of them will perform again on Sunday, when the party reaches its climax. On this day, over 1000 participants dance, sing and make music along Ludwigstraße, starting at Münchner Freiheit. The parade ends at Odeonsplatz, where it continues with an open-air festival on two stages.
In addition to the parade, there will also be a suitable supporting programme for St. Patrick's Day this weekend in the city centre, which is yet to be announced.
