The Munich Residence Week has been one of the most popular events in autumn for over 20 years. A varied programme of music and culture will once again be offered in the magnificent surroundings of the Munich Residence, Nymphenburg Palace and Schleißheim Palace in autumn 2026. The exact date is yet to be announced.
The focus of last year's Residenzwoche (Residence Week) was Bavarian history with two special rulers: The first Bavarian King Max I Joseph and his son King Ludwig I, who ascended the throne exactly 200 years ago.
The motto of last year's Residence Week was “Hoch hinaus“ (“Aiming high”). Guests were invited to rediscover the early years of the 19th century and the era in which Bavaria became a modern kingdom under King Max I Joseph and his son Ludwig I. With their vision, artistic flair and political will, both monarchs had a lasting influence not only on the development of the Kingdom of Bavaria, but also on the appearance of the city of Munich.
As part of the Residence Week in the Munich Residence, Nymphenburg Palace and Schleißheim Palace, visitors can always look forward to an atmospheric program: changing concerts, themed tours, hands-on stations and offers from the fields of art and music education open up exciting perspectives on the cultural development of Bavaria.
The early music concerts held in the historic state rooms of the palaces as part of the Residence Week are also particularly popular and bring past times back to life acoustically.
