On this tour, you will visit the baroque ‘New Palace Schleißheim’ with its magnificent gardens just outside the city gates, accompanied by an official tour guide. Lustheim Palace can be booked as an optional extra to the tour.
The Schleißheim Palace complex consists of the ‘Old Palace’, the ‘New Palace’, ‘Lustheim Palace’ and a wonderful park. The complex is one of the most magnificent Baroque complexes in Germany.
The 350-metre-long New Palace is the splendid centrepiece of the palace complex. Elector Max Emanuel, who once had hopes of becoming emperor, wanted to emphasise his status with this residence, modelled on French palaces.
The former hunting lodge Lustheim, built on the occasion of Max Emanuel's marriage to the Austrian emperor's daughter Maria Antonia, now houses the most important collection of early Meissen porcelain outside Dresden. A visit to Lustheim Palace can be booked as an optional extension to the tour.
