Together with German Convention Bureau (GCB) and numerous other exhibitors, Munich Convention Bureau is part of the strong German representation in the German Pavilion at IMEX in Las Vegas. The trade show will take place from October 17-19.
Cooperation is the key to success in the dynamic world of meetings, conferences and conventions. In similar fashion to what Munich Convention Bureau does at a regional level, GCB supports business event providers throughout Germany in marketing their products and services on the national and international markets. The extensive market research GCB conducts plays a key role in the development of future-oriented products.
Meetings, conferences, and congresses are one of the essential tools for mastering complex challenges.
In addition, GCB offers its members and the industry opportunities for networking and exchange. Meetings, conferences, and congresses are one of the essential tools for mastering complex challenges. People who come together in a professional context enable knowledge transfer, form networks, and thus provide the platforms for developing answers to the big issues of our day and age. GCB supports more than 160 members in marketing their portfolios nationally and internationally. In all, GCB represents some 360 leading convention centers, hotels, meeting venues, event agencies, and city marketing organizations. The IMEX Group is GCB's strategic trade fair partner.
By organizing the German booth or pavilion at the industry's most important trade fairs, such as the one in Las Vegas in October, GCB connects a large number of exhibitors from Germany as an event destination with event professionals from all over the world. GCB staff are additionally present in New York City and Beijing to represent Germany in the North American and Chinese markets. Apart from in-person encounters, GCB ensures a strong online presence worldwide through its digital channels.
The long-standing cooperation between GCB and Munich Convention Bureau is characterized by trust and progress – and also reflects their joint commitment to promoting and advancing Germany as a top MICE destination.
Through strategic partnerships, representation and a focus on future-oriented industry-related topics, GCB and MCB are jointly contributing to positioning Germany as a leading destination for meetings and conventions in an internationally competitive market. This is also evident at the trade show in Las Vegas.
A total of eleven MICE partners from Munich are taking part in the U.S. trade show. One of them is Roomers Hotel München. As Wendy Schmidt, Director of Sales & MICE, points out, "The participation of Germany and Munich as a destination is perfect for a hotel like Roomers. Especially as we are a small brand less well-known outside Germany, it’s an advantage for us to be able to present ourselves hand in hand with an entire destination. We’re convinced we can inspire the American market with our Roomers brand."
Munich Exhibition Center also sees the benefits of the joint participation: "This collaboration with GCB and Munich Convention Bureau at IMEX is very important for Munich Exhibition Center,” says Katharina Kleber, Director of Sales, Munich Exhibition Center Locations. “It makes a stronger presence at the show possible and promotes the exchange of information and resources, which is of practical use for everyone involved."
Michael Roleff, Managing Director of Welcome Destination Travel, highlights the specific importance of the U.S. market: "For Welcome Destination, the U.S. is an important market for the incentive industry as a source of and destination for events. IMEX in Las Vegas offers us the opportunity to connect with more than 3,000 qualified buyers from the U.S. and other countries, showcase our products and services, and most importantly, make new contacts and meet long-time business partners and friends."
"Business events are a key inspiration tool for Germany as a business and science location."
The focus of the joint GCB-MCB participation in Las Vegas is on sustainability. After all, sustainable activities will be of elementary importance for successful business events in the future. At the same time, the sensible deployment of digitalization in combination with sustainability – as a twin transformation – is indispensable. Digitization creates enormous opportunities to extend the reach of events beyond the dimension of physical participation, and to include those who are unable or unwilling to physically attend for a variety of reasons.
"That's why we need innovative and sustainable ideas today so we can proactively shape tomorrow’s world. Business events are a key inspiration tool for Germany as a business and science location. Strengthening this function in an entirely sustainable way is one of the most important future tasks for all the stakeholders in Germany as a meetings destination," says Matthias Schultze, Managing Director of German Convention Bureau.
