Courtyard by Marriott Munich Garching and Stellaris Apartment Hotel open north of the Bavarian capital and complement the Science Congress Center Munich.
On June 1 2021, Courtyard by Marriott Munich Garching and Stellaris Apartment Hotel opened their doors in the north of Munich. The opening took place in an exclusive circle - due to the current Covid-19 regulations. Among the invited guests were the Bavarian Minister of State for Science and the Arts, Bernd Sibler, who was also a keynote speaker, as well as Prof. Dr. Wolfgang A. Herrmann, former president of the TU Munich, and Prof. Dr. Thomas Hofmann, acting president of the TU Munich.
In his speech, Science Minister Bernd Sibler emphasized: "The Science Congress Center Munich is an essential cornerstone of our future project 'Neue Mitte Garching GALILEO'. It enriches the TUM campus in Garching in several aspects. For TUM, it offers highly modern premises - for research and education, for congresses and seminars, for scientific exchange and dialog.
The SCCM perfectly completes the 'Neue Mitte Garching' with its stores, restaurants and leisure facilities. Visiting scientists will find hotels on campus and thus an attractive range of accommodation. I am very pleased that the commitment and cooperative collaboration of all those involved enabled the realization of this groundbreaking infrastructure project and thus create a lively, diverse, attractive campus. We will continue the successful development of TUM's Garching campus in the future. We are well aware of the fact that local conditions are a very decisive location factor for excellent science and education."
In addition to the speeches by the guests of honor, the highlight of the opening was the symbolic inauguration of the two buildings, which was also attended by important partners and clients.
The managing directors of Bierwirth & Kluth Hotelmanagement GmbH (B&K), also operators of the two hotels, did not miss the opportunity to personally join in the celebrations on this important day. For them, the opening of the two units symbolizes a special achievement in these challenging times: "I am very pleased to be able to open both, the Courtyard by Marriott Munich Garching and the Stellaris Apartment Hotel today, and thus look into a positive future. Ingenuity meets design, science meets business: At the center of the "Galileo - Neue Mitte Garching" complex, the Science Congress Center Munich (SCCM) is the fixed star around which science, research and the hotel industry make their way. Here, a total of 2,400 square meters of event space is available, including 1,600 square meters of foyer space for caterings, banquets and exhibitions, as well as 14 individually configurable event rooms ranging in size from 55 square meters to 280 square meters. The heart of the SCCM is the Audimax with daylight: the auditorium, much praised for its special acoustics, equipment and ambience, has 1,300 seats and can be divided for events with up to 570 guests.
