Standing in front of a huge painting is always a special experience. But what if it suddenly starts moving and comes to life with sound effects? Immersive exhibitions invite visitors to experience art and culture through multimedia, while interactive museums allow them to actively engage with the displays. An overview.

Bavaria is turned on its head - because this museum is an upside-down world of experience. The idea behind it is to turn all the motifs upside down in order to create surprises and illusions. By travelling through the highlights of Munich and Bavaria, adults as well as children and young people can get to know the museum concept from a completely new perspective. ‘Magic Bavaria’ invites visitors to join in and try things out - with the city's largest ball pool, 30 interactive photo spots and magical illusions. You can also discover local art from Bavaria and exciting fun facts! Such as: Who actually invented the pretzel?

Equipped with VR glasses, you walk through Munich and Bavarian history. From the founding of the city in 1158 to the end of the Third Reich in 1945 - TIMERIDE GO! Tour offers an exciting journey through the last 850 years of Munich's history. The 90-minute tour (45 minutes is also possible!) starts at the meeting point at Marienplatz, where you will be given instructions on how to use the VR goggles to explore the upcoming stations historically and compare them with today. At the city wall, for example, you can still learn exciting facts about the former salt route and the founding of Munich. Finally, there is a virtual sightseeing flight over the Olympiastadion for the 1974 World Cup final.
TIMERIDE, Marienplatz 8 (meeting point)
An unforgettable experience awaits here, as optical illusions, amazing exhibits and creative installations beckon in this interactive world. Across 500 square metres, the rooms put visitors' perceptions to the test, leaving them wondering time and again what is illusion and what is reality. In addition to the 19 exciting worlds of experience, there are several photo booth spots to capture the adventure with friends or family. There are also puzzle stations with competitions and interesting experiments for children.
WOW Museum, Tal 27
On 2300 square meters in the basement of the former Galeria Kaufhaus am Stachus, over 200 works by the anonymous artist Banksy are on display. As many of his works, which include graffiti and street art, have been destroyed in the original or cannot be authorized by the artist, the exhibition consists of reproductions of various sculptures, photographs and video installations. What is particularly exciting here is that the graffiti can be experienced, as it is sprayed live by renowned artists. In this way, his socially critical messages can be felt up close.
B-TWEEN, former Galeria Kaufhaus am Stachus, from June 14, 2024
This immersive exhibition is the new hotspot for creative minds! Primarily aimed at those who want to put themselves into the limelight, it's perfect for capturing really cool social media pics. In the interactive rooms, visitors can explore a mirror maze, a colourful ball pit or a huge dance floor with countless lights and photo opportunities. The interactive photo studio is the ideal place for (budding) influencers and anyone who just wants to have some real fun.
