Beer garden at the Chinesischer Turm

In the shade of the pagoda

The beer garden in the middle of the Englischer Garten (English Garden) is not only a popular spot with locals. Tourists from around the world also love this green oasis, where they can mix and mingle with the locals.

With a good 7,000 or so seats, the beer garden at the Chinesischer Turm (Chinese Tower) is the second largest in Munich. It is located directly below a 25-metre high wooden Chinese-style pagoda, which used to have its own viewing platform.

Nowadays, the tower is closed to visitors; however, in good weather, a brass band plays on one of its five storeys (Wednesday from 3 p.m., Friday from 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m.).

Especially romantic and atmospheric is the Christmas market around the Chinese Tower.

The beer garden is connected to a restaurant of the same name. Here, guests are treated to Bavarian and Austrian delicacies, which can be enjoyed inside or out on the large terrace.

Tip: If you are keen to explore the Englischer Garten after a trip to the beer garden or restaurant, why not try a relaxing carriage ride? They leave directly from the Chinesischer Turm.
