K.I.T. Educational Trip

Simply a nice place to be – Munich as a conference venue

The Munich Convention Bureau and K.I.T. Group invited association representatives to their “Educational Program” in Munich.

From three people onwards it can be difficult to accommodate all the different interests, and the more options there are, the more complicated things get. Professional event planners, however, love the challenge of creating real WOW experiences for a few hundred or a few thousand delegates of an association conference, for example. Looking for hotels in a quiet but still central location? A traditional rustic tavern that also caters for vegans and those who are gluten-sensitive? It goes without saying that the venue should not only be technically state-of-the-art but also aesthetically pleasing.

Such challenges are the daily fare of PCOs specialised in planning, organising and running conferences, congresses, trade fairs and events. Their recipe for success: Contacts, contacts, contacts, experience, a network of competent partners and knowing exactly what they have to offer. Above all, they do not wait around for customers to approach them, but proactively invite potential prospects to exclusive site inspections to demonstrate the advantages of a MICE destination.

Nothing beats a personal first impression

The Munich Convention Bureau and the Association & Conference Management Group K.I.T. jointly organised an “Educational Program” for representatives of well-known associations from 27 to 30 August to present Munich as the ideal venue for their next conference. Because one thing is for sure: Anybody who experiences the city’s unique way of life, the sparkling Isar River and the magnificent historical backdrop will gladly come back. Six lucky devils followed the invitation to explore the Isar metropolis.

The first stop for the guests was the former Bavarian Royal Post Office next to the main railway station, where today the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost hotel resides behind the historic façade. The luxurious design hotel served as the base camp for exploring Munich. On the first evening, the Munich Convention Bureau invited the guests to dinner at the hotel’s restaurant DÉLiCE la Brasserie.

The following morning, the next item on the agenda led to the Munich Business Forum at the Messe München Conference Center Nord. The Munich Convention Bureau presented the advantages of the Bavarian capital as a conference venue, the Messe München rolled out its multi-faceted selection of location options, and K.I.T. Group opened wide its portfolio of services. After networking and lunch, the guests visited Messe München, the ICM (International Congress Center München) and the Conference Center Nord as well as the Westin Grand and Sheraton Arabellapark hotels. Dinner that evening was at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof.

Munich flair - live, unplugged, and in colour

The Fischbrunnen (fish fountain) in front of the town hall was the meeting place for a guided walking tour of the cultural highlights of Munich. Lunch was combined with a site inspection at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Munich. The hotel is located on the historical site of Munich’s first airfield, Oberwiesenfeld. From there it was not far to the next item on the programme, a visit to BMW Welt, whose spectacular architecture is simply inspiring.

At this wonderful place that gets the hearts of car aficionados racing the guests were in for a special surprise: Three stylish vintage cars. They were chauffeured in two elegant Rolls Royce saloons and a fancy BMW convertible to BMW Group Classic and then to dinner. Cruising through Munich in these works of art of steel, chromium and glass on wheels was unanimously THE highlight of the programme. The evening was dedicated to Munich’s traditional culture in the historic vaulted cellar of the Pfistermühle restaurant in the Platzl Hotel on the Platzl square – at the heart of Munich’s “Gemütlichkeit”.
