The city’s best-known kiosk: Reichenbach Kiosk on the Isar river can supply almost everything your heart desires, right around the clock.
The Munich kiosk, which has become something of a cult, is only closed for one hour each day – between 5 and 6 a.m. For the rest of the day it purveys a wide range of goods to night owls, students, mothers with babies, business people, senior citizens and school kids.
It stocks almost 2,200 items, ranging from freshly-baked pastries, soft drinks and newspapers, through to beers from around the world and snacks such as bratwurst and schnitzel rolls. The extensive ice cream selection is especially popular on hot days.
On sultry summer evenings, when Munich residents meet on the nearby Isar to take in the beach-like atmosphere as the day ends, long queues form in front of the little yellow kiosk on the Reichenbach bridge.
Outside Bavarian opening hours the product range is limited, so at night you can buy beer, for example, but no champagne, wines or spirits.
