The former Pfanni potato factory is now home to Werk 7, a musical theatre run by Stage Entertainment, where “Amélie” is played since early 2019.
The musical theatre in the Werksviertel district is located in the new trendy quarter by the Ostbahnhof (East Station). A unique stage has been created for live entertainment, as Werk 7 only shows musical performances. The theatre opened with a bang in 2018, hosting the premiere of “FACK JU GÖHTE – SE MJUSICÄL”. The hall has even been rebuilt to give it an air of improvisation.
After one year, the programme has now changed and “Amélie” was premiered 2019. Werk 7 has now been transformed into a Parisian café; the audience will be thrust right into the action, becoming exclusive guests at the café. The unique atmosphere of the bistro allows viewers to experience the flair of the Parisian Montmartre district, as well as immersing themselves in the fabulous world of Amélie. The songs written especially for the musical will be accompanied by the film’s catchy melodies, composed by Yann Tiersen.
Another special feature is the use of classical theatre crafts – some characters even enter the stage as puppets. This reflects the challenge of translating the extensive film material into a theatrical production. All puppets are played by the actors themselves.
The musical theatre in the Werksviertel district exudes an intimate and unconventional character. It can accommodate up to 700 spectators and its seats are arranged in a semi-circle around the stage.
