Street art goes museum

Just a stone's throw away from Marienplatz, the Museum for Urban and Contemporary Art (MUCA), the first of its kind in Germany, has been opened in a former municipal substation.

At MUCA, the young art form of urban and street art has been brought from the street to the museum for the first time.

The black and white facade of the museum was designed by renowned street artist Stohead, and is work of art in itself.

Inside, an extraordinary collection of works by national and international artists such as Banksy, RONE, Klebebande and Herakut await visitors. However, MUCA was not intended as a museum in the traditional sense, but as a contemporary location for artists and art enthusiasts to meet.

The frequently changing exhibitions present diverse and contemporary content such as photographic art, painting or even calligraphy.
